Application of Reconsolidation Effects

efrat-furst suggests that for practical application of the reconsolidation effect to acquiring new knowledge the following steps are required:

  1. Prior knowledge exists
  2. Prior knowledge is active
  3. Trigger predictions - while retrieving new knowledge think about how it can be used and what predictions can be made (see also question-formulation-technique)
  4. Make meaningful connections to new information
  5. Allow time for (re) consolidation page
