Artificial Intelligence
A broad term for many forms of computer use encompassing the perception, synthesis and inferrence of intelligence.
The field is divided into multipole sub-areas such as:
- resoning
- knowledge representation
- machine learning
- machine perception
- natural language processing
- social intelligence
In late 2022 / early 2023 much attention has been drawn to the combination of Generative Pretrained Transformer (a form of Large Language Model attached to chatbot-style interfaces, with extensive debate on the benefits and risks of these tools. Much of the popoular references to "AI" refer to this specific sub-area of tools.
AI Regulation
Coincident with the boom in attention to Generative Pretrained Transformer in early 2023 there has been an increase in calls for regulation of these tools. (see AI Regulation).
